Orientation

We offer regularly scheduled in-person orientations on the first Sunday and the third Saturday of every month at 5pm, as well as an online orientation at 7pm the Monday proceeding Taboo, the last Members Party each month.

Some of our other events, such as the co-sponsored parties, also have orientations. Please check the Calendar to keep apprised of any changes.

Greetings new, veteran, just curious, or new-to-our-area kinksters!

Since 1982, Threshold has been the found family to thousands of like-minded people dedicated to exploring BDSM and other forms of kinky play in a safer, sane, and consensual way. We are a non-profit, education-based, volunteer-run organization that has empowered people of all sexual identities & affiliations to be who they truly are in an environment that is free of judgment.

Our Orientations are open to the public and anyone who is 18 or older may attend, free of charge. This is where you will learn about our facility, our mission, our rules of conduct at parties & events, and the basics of what to expect as you explore at Threshold. Whether you join or not, it’s a great class of insights into our lifestyle & is very beneficial to anyone interested in how our lifestyle works.

In order to become a member of Threshold, you must:

  • Present a current government-issued photo ID
  • Complete the Membership Application which you can see HERE
  • Attend the ENTIRE orientation

Please make sure you are on time; if you are late or leave early, you will have to attend again. Membership dues start at $25 per person per year; multiyear discounts are available.

Membership comes with various benefits such entry to our members-only events, being able to reserve part or all of the clubhouse for your own private use, discounted tickets at many of our events and classes, and being able to vote in what we do as a club during Business Meetings.

We look forward to meeting you & helping you become part of our Threshold family

Frequently Asked Questions

If I attend one of your Orientations, am I obligated to join?

Absolutely not! While attending Orientation is a mandatory prerequisite for membership with our club, it is up to you whether or not you wish to join. Several events and classes are open to the community, but you will lose out on some member perks.

If I’m not going to join Threshold, what’s the purpose of attending Orientation?

While many people attend our Orientations as one of the prerequisites of becoming a member of Threshold, it also serves as a great way to get to know us and learn a little more about our community. If you’re nervous about attending a Threshold party or class and want to know ahead of time what we’re like and what you can expect, please join us at an Orientation and learn about us. Besides…It’s free!

Do I have to be a member in order to volunteer?

No! While there are some positions that require membership due to the tasks being performed, there are many other opportunities to help Threshold that are available for anyone who loves and cares about our club. Don’t forget that we have been a volunteer run, non-profit organization since 1982. Everyone who works hard to keep our club running is a volunteer who does not get paid. If you are interested in helping out in whatever way you can, email us at Volunteers@thresholdla.org.
